DC Impopsters

Hi readers !

Welcome to another blog of our Unboxing Sunday! Today's theme would be Imposters from the Pop! Heroes line.

In May 2016, Funko introduced a new line of vinyls from the Pop! Heroes category which are numbered from 122 to 128 & the designs of these vinyls are Imposters.

What are Imposters? First of all, it's basically a word play on "Imposters" & "Pop". Basically, you will find the villains of Batman impersonating the dark knight in these Imposter series from Funko Pop! Heroes. The villains include The Penguin, Two-face, Scarecrow, The Riddler, Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn. Speaking of Harley Quinn, she even impersonates Batgirl in these series.

So let's get our unboxing started where we take a look at each of these pop! individually & we will leave some quotes that was said by the villains in animations & movies that we are pretty sure that you have come across.

"You are just jealous cause I'm a freak & you have to wear a mask!"
- The Penguin from Batman Returns
First up at number 122, we have The Penguin all decked out in his signature tailcoat suit & monocle which basically looks like The Penguin-inspired Batsuit.

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"
- Harvey Dent from The Dark Knight

Next up at 123, we have Two-Face, formerly known as Harvey Dent also in a Two-Face-inspired Batsuit. Half of him is in a yellow suit and the other deformed half is in a purple/pin-striped suit.

"What was that? I should kill everyone & escape?
Sorry.. that voices. I am kidding ! That's not what they really said"
- Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad

At number 124, we have Harley Quinn! but as Batman. Of course he's dressed in Harley's signature black and red signature Harlequin suit.

Your guilt has been determined.
This is merely a sentencing hearing. Now, what will it be?
Death or Exile?
- Dr Jonathan Crane / Scarecrow from The Dark Knight Rises

Next at 125, we have Scarecrow in of course, Scarecrow-themed Batsuit. Complete with the signature Scarecrow stitched smile.

I will help you solve the greatest riddler of all.. Who is Batman?
- The Riddler from Batman Forever

"Is that really you Batman? Has someone SWITCHED places with you?" NO! It's The Riddler "impopstering" as the dark knight at number 126. We would definitely know it's the Riddler, seeing as there is a huge question mark on his forehead as well as his chest.

"& here you thought I was just another bubble-headed, blonde bimbo..
Well, the joke's on you, I am not even a real blonde"
- Harley Quinn

At number 127, we have another Harley! But this time, she's as Batgirl. Just like number 124, she's all decked out in her signature red & black coloured Harlequin suit.

"As I told lady Freeze when I pulled her plug, this is a one-woman show"
- Poison Ivy from Batman & Robin

Finally, we have Poison Ivy at number 128. Just like the rest of the impopsters, she's also dressed in a Poison Ivy-themed Batsuit(?). Look at all that green.

Scooby Dooby Doo

What's up readers !

Welcome to another Unboxing Sunday from The Loot Chest.

As we enter to a new year, we would like to experiment on a different platform to reach all collectors out there so we have decided to add a YouTube channel for our Unboxing Sunday. We are still new to filming & making videos so do forgive us if our videos of Unboxing Sunday are not as good as other review videos that you have watched. With this being said, we will do a week of Unboxing Sunday through our YouTube channel while the following week will be through our blog post & it will be back to our blog again. For now, we will be alternating writing on our blog once every fortnight and posting a video once every fortnight.

Check out last week video of our Unboxing Sunday:

Scooby scooby-doo, where are you?

Anyone of you guessed the line above?

Here, let us reminiscence a classic animation series that we are pretty sure most of you have watched an episode or two.

So all of you readers should know what will today's theme be right?

...
...
...

It's scooby dooby dooooooooooo..

In the middle of September last year, Funko announced that vinyl figures of Scooby-Doo under Pop! Animation will be release in Fall 2016. There are 5 regular pop! of the main characters which are Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy & Scooby where else a flocked Scooby is only available at Gemini Collectibles as well as a 2 pack Scooby & Shaggy which is exclusively at FYE. Now that we have the 5 regular pops, let's start unboxing these babies.

First of all under the Pop! Animation category numbered at 149 is Scooby-Doo himself. The design of Scooby-Doo looks like a pup instead of the adult Great Dane like you have watched during the 90's or earlier since this animation has been around since the late 60's/early 70's. Scooby-Doo looks more like he was in one of their animated series "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" which aired from the late 80's until the early 90's where it features the characters as children. The initials of SD at Scooby-Doo's dog collar can be seen on this vinyl figure.

When there is Scooby-Doo, Shaggy will definitely be somewhere near him as the dynamic duo has got similar personalities of being coward as well as always being hungry. Numbered at 150 under the Pop! Animation category, we present you Shaggy where this vinyl figure is holding some Scooby Snacks.

Next up will be the highly intelligent Velma. In the series, Velma has always been portrayed as an intelligent lady who has a high interest in science. Apart from that, she often loose her glasses in the series & will always mention this catchphrase: "My glasses! I can't see without my glasses!" where she ends up searching for her lost glasses without being able to see properly. Funko Pop! Velma is numbered at 151 & can be seen with her large glasses & magnifier. The Velma pop comes with a clear stand as she can't stand by herself.

At number 152, Daphne is right here! With the nick name of danger prone Daphne, she is sporting her usual appearance of a purple mini dress, purple shoes & a green scarf with her purple headband. The Daphne pop also comes with a clear stand but she is able to stand by herself. Now, where is Daphne's love interest, Fred?

Here he is! Numbered at 153, Fred Jones, one of the main characters who usually takes the lead in solving mysteries can be seen with his classic white shirt & blue jeans

Now that we have the gang all together, that's all we have for you this week folks!

Also, out of these 5 designs, which one is your favourite?

Mighty Jaxx's XXRAY DC Comics Wave 3

Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas everyone !

How's your Christmas?

If you are on this page, we would like to wish all our readers who are celebrating this festive period a blessed Christmas this year & thank you to all of you for spending some time on this holiday season to read our Unboxing Sunday.

Without further a do, let's begin.

Remember a few months ago that we reviewed wave 1 & wave 2 of Mighty Jaxx's XXRAY DC Comics? And did you remember in our wave 2's blog, we did not unbox The Flash as we did not have this vinyl art figure with us? Well, we have it right here this time & we would like to share with you how it looks like.

Let's rewind on what is XXRAY?

XXRAY are dissected vinyl figures that stands at 4 inches tall where it is individually hand painted & assembled. In our opinion, you can expect these collectibles to be quite detailed. The concept of XXRAY is it's unique dissection where it allows collectors a gift of X-Ray vision of their favourite characters.

Artists:

Adam Tan (Sculpt)

Licensee & manufactured by:

Mighty Jaxx Intergalactic Pte Ltd

We received the stocks of wave 1, 2 & 3 of Mighty Jaxx's XXRAY DC Comics last week on Wednesday where it was just in time for it's launch in Comic Fiesta, PWTC, Malaysia on 17 & 18 December 2016 which was on a Saturday & Sunday. Phew, you won't be able to imagine how hectic we were during that week. Comic Fiesta 2016 was the first time that these XXRAY products are featured in the Malaysian market unless collectors out there already have their XXRAY figures through online or if they were in certain countries to purchase these collectibles.

As the products are with us now, we can finally unbox The Flash from wave 2 as well as XXRAY DC Comics wave 3 which has a villain theme.

Wave 3 consists of:
  • The crown prince of crime, The Joker (8)
  • The mercenary, Deathstroke (9)
  • Supervillain, Black Manta (10)

There are noticeable differences between The Flash & those figures from Wave 3.

One of the differences would be that the dissected part of The Flash is on the left side where else The Joker, Deathstroke & Black Manta's dissected parts are on the right side. In other case, all of the heroes from XXRAY will have a dissected part on their left side where else all villains from the XXRAY series will have their dissected part on their right side.

The other difference that is noticeable would be that the colour of the dissected part. If you have a look at The Flash, it has a creamy colour on his dissected part where else the villains in wave 3 has a dark greyish dissected parts.

Let's take a look at how the crown prince of crime looks like:

Deathstroke has a removable weapon that fits into the collectible & one feature that we find interesting was that there is another weapon at the back of this figure. However, the weapon at the back of Deathstroke is not removable.

Black Manta has 2 removable weapons which fits into it's hands & at first, we thought it will be difficult for this figure to stand on it's own due to the fact that the head of Black Manta that is huge. How wrong we were as it stands on it's own perfectly. Its unique head is something for you collectors to take note on.

Well, we have gone through wave 3 of XXRAY DC Comics as well as The Flash from wave 2 so we will end our blog here on this wonderful Christmas day. Our next XXRAY Unboxing Sunday should be Wave 4 of this XXRAY series which most likely will be in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Can't forget our favourites! :)

Mystery Mini Disney Villains

What's up readers?

How's your week going so far?
It's been a hectic week for us @ The Loot Chest as we welcome our distribution products of Mighty Jaxx's XXRAY as well as our participation in Comic Fiesta 2016.

But..
No matter how busy we are, we will spent some time doing some unboxing of products that are available in our store.

So, without further a do, this week's unboxing Sunday is our very first unboxing of mystery minis from Funko!

If you guys aren't familiar, each carton consists of 12 blind boxes with a chance to get a random character (which we will note down the ratio below).

Individual box

As you can see from below, the ratio for all 12 characters are listed on the back of the individual boxes.

  • Red Queen 1/24
  • White Rabbit 1/24
  • Maleficent 1/6
  • Diablo 1/12
  • Cruella de Vil 1/12
  • Patch 1/12
  • Prince John 1/24
  • Sir Hiss 1/24
  • Ursula 1/12
  • Flotsam & Jetsam 1/12
  • Dr. Facilier 1/72
  • Voodoo 1/72
  • Hades 1/12
  • Pain 1/12
  • Shan Yu 1/36
  • Hayabusa the Falcon 1/36

The ratio
So from the ratio, the Princess & the Frog villain is the most rare, followed by the villain from Mulan. Since the two of us unboxed all 12 blind boxes, Mark unboxed everything on the left, and Dinesha unboxed everything on the right.

Starting from the top 6 layer, Mark unboxed Sir Hiss from Robin Hood while Dinesha unboxed Ursula from The Little Mermaid.
Sir Hiss
Ursula
Next, we unboxed Hades (M) from Hercules & Shan Yu (D) from Mulan
Hades
Shan Yu
We pulled Flotsam & Jetsam (M) from The Little Mermaid & Patch (D) from 101 Dalmatians from the back two of the top layer. Personally, Dinesha has no idea why Patch was included in the Disney Villains lineup while Mark was like who is Patch? *which will be his favourite after all*

Flotsam & Jetsam
Patch
Now. let's take a look what is in store for us at the bottom 6 of the display box. It's Cruella de Vil (M) from 101 Dalmatians & Diablo (D) from Sleeping Beauty.
Cruella de Vil
Diablo
Next, we unboxed Pain (M) from Hercules & White Rabbit (D) from Alice in Wonderland.
Pain
White Rabbit
Finally (and sadly), we both unboxed Maleficent (seeing that her ratio is 1/6, we were bound to have a double).
Maleficent

The final line up.

Now for our favourites!
